On February 3, 2006 our Association President received a phone call from Mrs. Virginia Latimer, wife of Donald M. Latimer. Sadly, she informed Bernie of the passing of her husband, Donald M. Latimer on February 2, 2006. If more information becomes available, it will be posted on this page.

The following obituary was published in the Hartford Courant on February 4, 2006:

LATIMER, Donald M.

Donald M. Latimer, 77, of Vernon, and loving husband of 21 years to Virginia (Chemistruck) Latimer, passed away, Thursday, (February 2, 2006) at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 9, 1928 in West Hartford to the late, Truman and Orra (Rich) Latimer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Donald retired after 19 years from Cigna Insurance Company.

Besides his wife Virginia, he is survived by a son, Donald M. Latimer Jr. of East Hartford; a daughter, Terry Latimer and her husband, Corrado Nane of East Hampton; a step-son, Robert Bishop of Newington; a step-daughter, Terry Crabb and her husband, Jerry of Vernon; a sister, Laura Pitney of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Amy, Sebby and Chantal; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Julianna. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by a brother, Father Christopher Latimer.

A funeral procession will form by 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 6, at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm Street, Rockville to St. Bernard's Cemetery for a Graveside Service will Military Honors to be held at 10 a.m. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, February 5, at the funeral home.
