LTJG Frank Parra
On February 14, 2006 our Association Historian, Jim Kelly, received a letter from Mrs. Delores Parra, wife of Frank Parra. Sadly, she informed Jim of the passing of her husband on January 1, 2005.
Frank was a longtime member of the Rush Association, since 1994. He was active in the membership and used to edit the Rush Gram for Jim Kelly and Jim Hocking.
The following obituary was published in "The Journal News" on January 4, 2005:
Frank Parra of Valley Cottage died Saturday, January 1, 2005 at Nyack Hospital. He was 74. Frank was born in East Elmhurst, NY on September 12, 1930. The son of John and Amalia (Peransi) Parra.
Frank was a Mechanical Engineer for Belock Instrument in College Point for many years before his retirement. During the Korean Conflict, Frank served in the U.S. Navy having served on the U.S.S. Hornet.
Frank is survived by his wife Delores (Verticchio) Parra, a son David Parra of the Bronx. He was predeceased by a sister Ines Segura.
Frank's funeral service will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Congers. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
