Sadly, Mrs. Catherine Kilgore contacted Mike Dutton concerning the passing of long-time Rush Association member and loving husband Nicholas Kilgore.


In a handwritten note, Mrs. Kilgore let us know, "Nicholas passed away July 20, 2006.".


The following obituary was published in The Anniston Star, Anniston, Alabama on July 22, 2006:

"Memorial services for Mr. Nicholas "Nick" Kilgore, 78, of Anniston will be Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Fourmile United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Hesley officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday after the service at the church. Mr. Kilgore died Thursday in Anniston.

Survivors include: his wife of 29 years, Catherine Kilgore; two daughters, Nora Conroy and husband, Kevin and Laura Milgate and husband, Richard, both of New York; five sons, Norman Kilgore, of Anniston, Frank Kilgore, of New York, Daniel Kilgore, of Massachusetts, Glenn Davis and wife, Kathy, of Alexandria, and Jeffery Davis and wife, Kim, of Jacksonville; one brother, Elbert Kilgore and wife, Millie, of Tennessee; one sister, Nora Brownell, of Munford; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kilgore was a native and a resident of Anniston. He retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Fourmile United Methodist Church, where he served as one of the caretakers of the church cemetery for the past 20 years.

Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by a son, David Kilgore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fourmile United Methodist Church, 536 Fourmile Church Road, Anniston, AL 36206.

Gray Brown-Service Mortuary is in charge of arrangements."
