Mrs. Carol S. Mallory, in response to a recruiting letter, sadly informed Norman Porterfield that her husband had passed on April 6, 2007. James R. Mallory served in RUSH from 1959 through 1960. The photograph above, regrettably of poor quality, was scanned from the RUSH 1959-1960 Mediterranean Cruise Book. James served as a Fireman in the Engineering Department with the Boiler Tenders.

James R. Mallory, Sr. 66 of Follansbee, West Virginia, died Friday, April 6, 2007, on his 39th wedding anniversary at Weirton Medical Center.

He was born on November 24, 1940 in Nellis, WV a son of James L. Mallory of Follansbee, WV and the late Thelma Mae (Halstead) Mallory. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Mallory on December 18, 2006.

James was a graduate of Follansbee High School and retired as Plant Manager of Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. He was a member of the Hooverson Heights Church of Christ.

JamesMallory.jpgSurviving in addition to his father is his wife of 39 years, Carol S. (Urbin) Mallory whom he married on April 6, 1968. Two Sons, James R. Mallory, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Clawson, MI Steven E. Mallory and wife, Kelly of Alburn Hills, MI Three Brothers, Paul Mallory and wife, Virginia of Lincoln Park, MI; Roy Mallory and wife, Selva of Follansbee, WV; and Jay Mallory and wife, Christine of Georgia A Sister-in-law, Carol Mallory of Follansbee, WV Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7th from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the James Funeral Home 1245 Main St. Follansbee, WV where Services will be held on Monday, April 9th at 2:00 P.M. with George Henry, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. The family wants to thank the staff at Brightwood Center for the excellent care he received during his stay there.
