Comments: My father, Leonard J. Crosby was apparently stationed on this ship in the early 50s (I don't know what year), because my mother (Carol P. Crosby) was notified today (8/15/97) of an upcoming reunion of people stationed on it. Anyway, Leonard Crosby died on May 14, 1985 of cancer, but he would have been very enthusiastic about this reunion and would wish you all a wonderful time.

I did a short stint on Rush as an EM3 during an overhaul at Coastal Dry Dock & Repair (ex-Brooklyn Navy Yard) in 1975 while waiting to attend Nuclear Power School. Served on a half-dozen ships over 19 years but this was my first one. The only people I can barely recall are Roy Minton EMFN (GA), Dan Moran EM2 (NY?) and BM3 "Snake" Paulette (?). Great site, was delighted to locate it.

Rush DDR-714 At Mayport, Fla. in June 1960 and served on board during the Cuban blockade, I started out in the after engineroom then went to Main Control, My brother Gale reported aboard 1962, onboard the Rush I made third class Machinist Mate, reenlisted for air conditioning and Refrigeration school during the Cuban blockade. I was transferred to U.S.S Harwood DDE-861 awaiting orders for School as the Rush was leaving for its second Med Cruise, I made one in 1962 aboard her.
