Comments: Hello, My dad Don Coelho served on the Rush somtime during 1951 to 1954 as a YN. He was living in Taunton Mass. at the time the Rush was homeported at Newport. This web site is one of the best I've seen! While serving on a LST during the early seventies I caught a look at the Rush underway out in the atlantic. It was a thrill for me to be able to tell dad this. Now my son is out there on a destroyer cruising the same waters and hitting the same beaches both my dad and I did. Comments: I was looking at some of the ships that I had served on and the Harwood was one, I was only on her for about 6 months, I had been transferred off of the William R. Rush, because of it being deployed, and I was starting Air Conditioning and Refrigeration School at Norfolk, Va which, I had reenlisted for during the Cuban Blockade 1962. I xferred from the Rush to the Page (FFG5) in Norfolk. When I reported to Norfolk 2 weeks following decomissioning, I saw the newly commissioned ROKS Kang-Won (DD 922) sitting in port broke down. Never heard what happened to her.
