A Little Bit about the Webmaster
Even as a younster, I knew that engineering would somehow influence my life... I was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 20, 1949.

But first I had to graduate from High School in 1967, get bored with college at the Univeristy of Delaware, and then enlist in the US Navy on December 7, 1967.

A Little Bit about the Webmaster
From 1967 to 1978 I served as an enlisted man - from Machinist's Mate Fireman Apprentice to Machinist's Mate Chief Petty Officer. During this time I served in USS COLUMBUS (CG-12), USS RUSH (DD-714), USS HEWES (FF-1078), USS FULTON (AS-11) and USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62). In 1978 I was commissioned as an Ensign, Limited Duty Officer, Engineering.

But it is not all about me...... Backing-up just a bit, in 1977 Carol-Lee Ryley replied "YES" to my proposal of marriage. Now more than a sailor, I was also a family man! Our daughter, Lisa, is now married. She and our son-in-law, Ben Sikes, have given us two wonderful grandchildren, Blake and Jamie-Lee.

While I was serving as an Engineering LDO Ensign, Lieutenant (junior grade) and Lieutenant, I served in the USS WORDEN (CG-18), USS WAINWRIGHT (CG-28), and USS FULTON (AS-11). I had one tour of shore duty as a junior officer - Instructor at Officer Candidate School, Newport, RI.

I was promoted to my highest level of incompetence at OCS, Newport, RI while serving as an instructor. Before retiring in 1993, I also served in USS AUSTIN (LPD-4) as Engineering Department Head and on shore duty at FTC, Mayport, FL.

We are now living in Virginia Beach, VA. Carol-Lee is a wonderful wife and grandmother and I am a semi-retired Curmudgeon. But I am having fun working part-time, being part of the RUSH Association and am priveledged to be running this website now.
