Since the mid 1970s, several hundred former destroyermen have been restoring the Kennedy to her mid-1960s appearance - scraping, needlegunning, priming and painting inside and outside spaces, repairing electronic gear, restoring the IC phone system, for the thousands of families who visit USS Kennedy, USS Massachusetts and USS Lionfish every year.
I've been volunteering for about six years, and I encourage you to join me this year as a "Willy R" work party member aboard the "Jumping Joey" at the end of May this year.
For $25 you get to sleep aboard, work a couple of days, eat 3 great meals cooked in Kennedy's galley, and swap sea stories in the evening.
Why not send me an e-mail at b.washburn@cox.net or call me at
401-682-2088. I will be more than happy to fill you in on more details for this rewarding and fun project.
Best regards,
Bob Washburn, ET2, 1955-1957
